Post-doc (ER) position in Signal Processing and Communications for the SMARTEN ITN project

The main aim of Marie Curie SmartEN ITN project is to establish a transnational Initial Training Network (ITN), aiming at implementing a multidisciplinary research and training programme in the field of smart management for sustainable human environment.

Description
The Marie Curie ER (Experienced Researcher) Fellow will conduct research in areas related to Signal Processing and Communications for wireless sensor networks. The topics may include:
- Distributed and Cooperative Communication Schemes, Multi-hop Relaying.
- Distributed Detection and Estimation Algorithms.
- Energy-efficient Sensor Reachback Techniques.
- Source and/or Node Localization Techniques.
- Energy-efficient Data Acquisition via Compressed Sensing Techniques.
The duration of the fellowship is 12 months, starting in the 2nd quarter of 2012. Compensation includes: (a) Highly competitive monthly salary, and (b) travel grants to attend conferences, in addition to travel related with project requirements. Requirements:
The applicants must, at the time of recruitment (i) be in possession of a doctoral degree in the fields of Electrical & Computer Engineering, independently of the time taken to acquire it, or (ii) have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience, including the period of research training, after obtaining the degree which formally allowed them to embark on a doctorate in the country in which the degree/diploma was obtained or in the host country (irrespective of whether or not a doctorate was envisaged).
The working language will be English; therefore, fluency in English is a requirement.

Eligibility:
Researchers should be nationals of a country other than Greece and must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in Greece for more than 12 months in the last 3 years. More details concerning eligibility can be found in relevant EC documents (People WorkProgramme 2008).
