Postdoctoral researcher structural analysis of protein fibrillation
In the BioSAXS group at the Biostructural Research section, Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, a post-doc position is open from March 2013 (or at the earliest convenience) until November 30th, 2014.
The position is financed by a grant from the Danish Council for Independent Research Medical Sciences - Sapere Aude programme on Structural Analysis of Fibrillation in Realistic Environments.
Job description
The post-doc will primarily perform research, including publication and scientific communication obligations. The post-doc will also provide educational and research related guidance to BioSAXS PhD-students, and will support the general administration of the group. Research-based teaching is expected in limited amounts.
Research Project
The BioSAXS group conducts biostructural research, focused on structurally complex systems with medical importance. We include a number of different structural methods, with particular expertise within small angle X-ray scattering analysis of proteins in solution. The current research project concerns our primary focus on structural analysis of protein fibrillation.
Within the project, the post-doctoral researcher will obtain significant experience with synchrotron-based data collection and advanced analysis of SAXS data. Protein crystallisation activities and fibre diffraction analysis are also included in the project plan. The project concerns aspects from several of the biological fibrillation related systems that are analysed within the group, relevant for neurodegenerative diseases and drug development. Hence, the project is embedded within current activities in the group, ensuring an active and collaborative professional environment.
The appointee should have qualifications within some of the following subject areas:
Qualification requirements
In the selection of the most suitable candidate, importance will be attached to the applicant having the professional and personal qualifications stated below:
Terms of employment
The post will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The post is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.
