At the
University of Bergen, Department of Biomedicine, a three year
postdoctoral fellowship from the Norwegian Research Council is available
as part of the project entitled: A study on metabolic inflexibility as
a possible weakness in mammary tumours. The project addresses
mitochondrial physiology and associated interactions between metabolism
and cell signalling in the tumor context. Expected starting date is 1
March 2013.
Description
The
postdoctoral fellow will be part of the Cellular Networks (CellNet)
research group. The primary objective of the project is to identify
metabolic weaknesses in cancer cells to develop new biomarkers and
therapeutic concepts. The experimental approach involves studies on the
molecular mechanisms involved in metabolism-signalling cross-talk,
mitochondrial physiology, cellular stress, and cellular metabolic
adaptation. The project comprises in vitro cell and in vivo animal
model systems, and state-of-the-art technology/methodology (e.g.
advanced microscopy/flow cytometry, metabolomics and bioenergetics).
