UK : PhD opportunities in Geography and Environment

We have several competition funded PhD topics available within the following research groups:

Earth Surface Dynamics

Economy, Society and Space

Global Environmental Change and Earth Observation

Palaeoenvironmental Laboratory at the University of Southampton (PLUS)

Population, Health and Wellbeing

Candidates must have or expect to gain a first or strong upper second class degree, in an appropriate discipline, not necessarily Geography.

When selecting your programme, please select, ‘research’, ‘full time (or part time depending on your preference)’, ‘Faculty of Social and Human Sciences’, then click ‘search for programme’. You will then see ‘MPhil/PhD Geography’ and click ‘apply online’. You will have the opportunity to type in the title of the topic and supervisor at a later stage in the application.

Interviews will be held 11/12 March 2012.

Funding:
This is one of a range of topics currently being advertised. The funding will go to the project(s) with the best applicant(s). The studentship is to be funded at RCUK level, currently £13,590 per annum, with an RTSG of £750. The studentship is open to British and EU nationals only. International students can apply to the topic but they must be able to meet the difference between home/EU and International tuition fees themselves.
