The
 Discipline of Information Technology, at Monash University's Sunway 
Campus in Malaysia, is seeking to appoint PhD students to join the 
Intelligent Biologically Inspired Robotics research group, to work with 
Dr Simon Egerton, Dr Carina Chan and other team members in collaboration
 with the Jeffery Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences. 
The
 team is focused on developing assistive care technologies to extend and
 raise the quality of life of the visually impaired and elderly. We are 
currently seeking motivated candidates to work on projects developing 
robotic seeing-eye platforms to aid and assist the visually impaired 
around their homes and enhancing their quality of life and emotional 
wellbeing. The team has a very dynamic research approach, backed up with
 world class medical expertise.  
A
 good BSc(hons)/MSc/Mphil degree in Computer Science/Engineering, 
mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline is required. The 
applicants should have good programming skills (MATLAB, C/C++, OpenCV, 
Python) with experience of algorithm and software development. A strong 
academic background, good command of both spoken and written English is a
 must.  Candidates with previous experience in computer programming for 
robotics / embedded systems / image processing and analysis (e.g. image 
segmentation and registration, computer vision, 2D/3D image processing) 
would be desirable.
