Sweden : Three to four PhD student positions in mathematics or mathematical statistics


The department conducts research and provides education at undergraduate to graduate level in mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematical statistics. The number of employees is 100, of which approximately 30 are doctoral students.

Duties: The duties of a PhD student are primarily directed at his/her own research education, which lasts 4 years. The work may also involve, to a limited extent (maximum 20 %), other departmental duties, mainly related to teaching undergraduate courses - in which case the position may be extended to maximum 5 years.

The salary level is set by the university regulations.

Required qualifications: In order to be employed as a doctoral student, the candidate needs to be admitted to the research education programme, and for this, his/her potential ability to pursue the programme is decisive. The applicant should have a master's degree in mathematics or an equivalent, or at least in all likelihood obtain such a degree no later than July 1, 2013. The candidate should have a good command of spoken and written English.

Application procedure: A complete application should contain a short and concise description of research interests, previous experiences and future expectations, Curriculum Vitae, copies of diplomas and certificates of grades, a copy of master's degree dissertation (or a preliminary outline thereof).
