Scholarship Description: 
Our
research is concentrated on the molecular responses to brain injury and
molecular events leading to the development of epilepsy. We are
particularly interested in alterations in gene expression that lead to
the development of spontaneous seizures in in vivo models of
epileptogenesis and epilepsy. We are also interested in developing new
strategies to prevent epilepsy development.

They
are searching for outstanding 2 postdoctoral candidates to carry out
the following research supported by the TEAM project from the Foundation
for Polish Science (FNP) co-financed from the European Union, Regional
Development Fund in 2012-2015. Recent studies, including those from the
Kaczmarek laboratory, have shown pivotal role of MMP-9, extra
synaptically released protease acting on local extracellular matrix, in
neuronal plasticity underlying physiological and pathological
information processing and storage by the brain.
