13
Doctoral Fellowships in 6 European Institutions collaborating in a new
FP7-PEOPLE Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN): TECAS (Tissue
Engineering Solution for Cardiovascular Surgery)
www.mh-hannover.de/tecas-itn.html.
The
TECAS-ITN integrates the major European investigators and experts in the
field of cardiovascular tissue engineering and regenerative medicine,
with a view to establishing a European Doctoral Academy, which
facilitates the cross-disciplinary and inter-sectorial training, and
career development of Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in the field.
TECAS-ITN
is looking to recruit 13 ESR Fellows, with backgrounds ranging from
physical sciences and engineering to life sciences and medicine, who
will follow a cross-disciplinary and inter-sectorial research training
programme in the field of cardiovascular tissue engineering and
regenerative medicine. Each ESR Fellow will perform an individual
research project that is placed along the inter-sectorial innovation
pipeline of a number of tissue engineering products and technologies,
addressing the clinical needs of cardiac valve repair and replacement,
myocardium reconstruction and patch graft angioplasty of the great blood
vessels. The research training is supervised by a consortium of 5
academic/clinical, 2 industrial and 1 regulatory agency Partners with
wide expertise in basic science, clinical research, translation and
standardisation of tissue engineering technologies. Full descriptions of
the research projects available can be found at
www.mh-hannover.de/tecas-itn.html.
Each
Doctoral Fellowship covers a 3-year research position in the frame of a
PhD degree. The training of the ESR Fellows will be complemented through
project-specific Exchange secondments to other TECAS-ITN Partners
collaborating on a specific Fellowship, Clinical secondments to
tissue/organ banks of the clinical Partners, Industrial secondments to
industrial Partners and Laboratory secondments to academic institutions
outside the TECAS-ITN, as well as through an extensive curriculum of
academic and transferable skills courses. The Fellowships are open to
outstanding international candidates and provide a generous gross salary
of €38,000 per annum plus research expenses, mobility and career
development allowances, and full tuition fees.
