Ireland : PhD Scholarship in European Union Politics

The Department of Politics and Public Administration of the University of Limerick is inviting applications for a PhD scholarship in the area of European Union Politics. Applications are especially welcome from candidates who wish to study aspects of the European Parliament or the
Council of Ministers in their role as law-making institutions. Skills in research methods or a willingness to acquire them would be an advantage.

The scholarship covers tuition fees (at EU rates) and provides a maintenance grant of €7000 per year for up to four years, subject to academic performance. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the tutorial teaching of the department.
Applications should include (a) a research proposal (5 pages maximum); (b) copies of academic transcripts; (c) a CV or resume (3 pages maximum); and (d) one academic reference. The closing date for applications is 1 May 2013.

Ireland : The Irish Times MBA Scholarship at UCD Smurfit School

UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in partnership with the Irish Times is offering MBA scholarship for Irish students. The scholarship worth of €29,500 will cover two year full tuition fees for a part-time Executive MBA. The scholarship is also open to those who have already submitted an application directly to UCD for 2013 entry to the executive MBA programme. The deadline for submitting online application is 24th February 2013.

Ireland : PhD Studentships-Centre for Next Generation Localisation Laboratories, Trinity College Dublin

The Centre for Next Generation Localisation (www.cngl.ie) seeks to revolutionise the way people interact with content, systems and each other to achieve unprecedented levels of content access, process efficiency and user empowerment. Breakthroughs in the creation, processing, unification and integration of multilingual, multi-modal and multimedia content are needed to meet the needs of an increasingly mobile and multilingual society across global markets. CNGL will enable content to be created, discovered, translated and personalised, so as to efficiently and effectively deliver natural and engaging web-mediated interactions between users, organisations and communities regardless of language, device and preferences of the user.

CNGL is internationally renown for its strong, strategic mix of leading researchers in language,
adaptive content, interaction and knowledge engineering technologies and its tight engagement with innovation-driven companies that work with content at a global level. CNGL has recently received further multi-million funding from Science Foundation Ireland. As a result Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is now offering 22 new PhD studentships in the areas of:

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have an excellent academic record (first class or II.1 primary degree or a postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.Sc.) in Computer Science, or a related discipline. They will be highly motivated, with strong written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated proficiency in software development. They must be eager to work in and learn from multi-disciplinary and multi-organisation teams. They should have English language certification if English is not their first language, the requirement being: IELTS: 7.0+, TOEFL iBT: 100+, TOEFL pBT: 600+, CEF:C1+, or equivalent.

Ireland : PhD Studentship in Model-driven Software Engineering

Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre, offers a PhD Studentship in Model-driven Software Engineering as part of the LGSSE initiative. The position is related to the research project on Model-driven Evolution of Variable Software-intensive Systems (ModEvo).

Description
===========
Applications are invited for a funded Ph.D. studentship within Lero at University of Limerick to investigate model-driven techniques for the configuration and evolution of software systems. The project will investigate how the configuration and evolution of software-intensive systems (e.g., all software in an aircraft) can be supported by model-driven techniques, e.g. interactive visual tools, model transformations, and automated consistency analyses.

* Essential:
- B.Sc. and/or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related discipline
- Strong Java development skills

* Desirable:
- Knowledge in one or more of the following topics: model-driven development, software evolution, software visualisation, software product lines, embedded systems
- Experience in development of Eclipse-based tools

The project is supported by Science Foundation Ireland under the CSET programme and will be conducted in collaboration with the Rolls Royce Software Centre of Excellence and IBM Haifa Research Labs.  It is planned that the successful applicant will undertake a research internship at one of the partners during the course of their studies.

Ireland Government Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
Government of Ireland International Scholarships will be awarded to  high calibre higher education students from non-EEA countries to study in Ireland for a period of one year.
The scholarship may be for the final year of an undergraduate programme, a one year taught masters programme or for one year of a research programme (research masters or PhD programme).

Field(s) of study:
Scholarships will only be approved for programmes that lead to a higher education award that is included in the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at Levels 6 to  10, which is made by selected awarding bodies.
Number of Scholarships:
It is expected that a total of 22 scholarships will be funded from the HEA in the academic year 2013/2014.
Target group:
The scholarship is open to any non -EU/EEA students however the 2013/2014 scheme will prioritise applications targeted at China, India and Brazil.
Scholarship value/inclusions:
The HEA will award a scholarship fund to the student (through the HEI that the student is attending) amounting to €10,000 for one study year.  This fund is directed at covering student costs and living expenses.
The HEI will be required to give a FULL fee waiver to the student for the scholarship year (i.e. tuition fee and registration charge are waived).  This is the  minimum  matching funding  requirement that institutions will be required to make to the scholarship programme.
Eligibility:
You must meet the eligibility criteria set forth by the higher education institution you are applying to.
Application instructions:
The Higher Education Institution (HEI) will nominate scholars to the Higher Education Authority (HEA) for approval. Therefore, you must apply directly to the Higher Education Institution to be considered for the scholarship.  The closing date for receipt of proposals to HEA is  on  21 December 2012. Deadline for applications to HEIs should be earlier.
