Australia : RMIT Irana Turynska Undergraduate and Master’s Scholarships

RMIT offers Irana Turynska undergraduate and masters scholarships in Australia. Scholarships are provided in the field of architecture. Scholarship is awarded to a female and a current full-time third year bachelor of architectural design or fourth year masters of architecture student within the school of architecture and design. The students of Australia can apply for this scholarship.  Two Scholarships are offered for one year. The application deadline is 19 March 2013.

Hungary : Hungarian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students

Brief description:
Through the Hungarian Scholarship Board Office, the Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture offers scholarships for foreign students and professors of higher education institutions as well as research fellows who intend to gain further professional experience in Hungarian institutions of higher education or research. Scholarships can be applied for under two systems:
Bilateral Agreements: Scholarships are awarded to citizens of countries (and territories) that have a valid/effective educational co-operation programme with Hungary, or a bilateral agreement signed by the Hungarian Government or the Ministry of Education and Culture of Hungary and the relevant ministry of the given country (or territory).
Scholarship Pool: Various types scholarships are available to students from selected countries/territories.
Scholarships are available for (A) semester/partial studies; (B) postgraduate studies – research; (C1) full PhD programmes; (C2) partial PhD studies; (D) postdoctoral studies – research; (E) research stay; and (F) summer courses.

HUF 40,460 stipend per month, paid by the host institution, and student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder.
B.  Postgraduate studies, research (3-21 days or 1-10 months)
HUF 79,200 stipend per month and HUF 70 000 accommodation allowance per month, for scholarships 21 days or shorter, accommodation allowance and a stipend of HUF 3000/day.  These amounts are paid by the HSB Office.
C/1. Full PhD programme (36 months)
HUF 100,000 per month, paid by the host institution, and student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder
C/2. Partial PhD studies (12 months)
HUF 100,000 per month, paid by the host institution, and student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder.
D. Postdoctoral studies,research (1-10 months)
HUF 118,800 per month and HUF 80,000 accommodation allowance per month, paid by the HSB Office.
E. Research stay (3-21 days or 1-10 months)
HUF 118,800 per month, and HUF 80,000 accommodation allowance per month, for scholarships lasting 21 days or shorter, accommodation allowance and a stipend of HUF 3000/day.  These amounts are paid by the HSB Office.
F. Summer courses in 2013 (1-4 weeks)
Tuition-free courses, free accommodation and meals.
NOTE: The scholarship is meant to cover the living expenses of one person only, so there is no available financing or visa exemption for accompanying members of the family or any other persons. Neither visa related fees nor any other costs related to the grantee’s stay in Hungary shall be compensated for.  Travel expenses to Hungary and back to the country of origin are not covered by the Hungarian Scholarship Board.
Citizens of all other countries staying in Hungary for more than 1 month are covered for medical treatment in case of sudden illness. Except emergency cases none of the costs of dental care are covered. Scholarship-holders staying in Hungary for less than 1 month are required to make their own arrangements for insurance coverage.
Eligibility:
A – semester/partial studies (3-10 months)
Available for: undergraduate (BA/BSc) and graduate (MA/MSc) students (enrolled at foreign higher education institutions), especially those majoring in Hungarian Language and Literature and students participating in a single degree track university programme (such as General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Studies, Veterinary Studies, Architecture, Studies in Law, etc.). Before application, students are required to have completed minimum two semesters at their home institutions. For “Type A” scholarship students may apply only on one occasion during their Bachelor’s studies, and once during their Master’s studies.
B – postgraduate studies, research (3-21 days or 1-10 months)
Available for: applicants holding a Master’s degree or an equivalent university degree, including PhD students who intend to do research for their dissertation and wish to stay in Hungary for less than 10 months. (However, PhD students cannot earn credits during the scholarship period at the host university.)
C/1 – full PhD programme (36 months)
Only students proficient in Hungarian can apply. The scholarship is conditional upon successful entrance exam/ admission to the respective doctoral school.
C/2 – partial PhD studies (10 months)
Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme at an accredited higher education institution in their home country or in a foreign country (but not in Hungary).
D – postdoctoral studies, research (1-10 months)
Applicants must hold a PhD or an equivalent degree.
E – research stay (3-21 days or 1-10 months)
Available for associate professors or high-ranking academics as well as researchers holding minimum a PhD or an equivalent degree.
F – summer courses in the summer of 2013 (2-4 weeks)
Only courses published in the list of “Summer Courses 2013″ on the HSB website can be selected. You may select three different courses but your scholarship will allow you to participate only in one course
Cases for Non-Eligibility
•  Foreign citizens with a residence permit or in the course of applying for a residence permit in Hungary cannot apply.
•  Men and women, who have an employment contract or employment relationship as defined by the law in Hungary cannot apply
•  Students applying for part-time or correspondence study programmes cannot apply.
•  Students applying for non state-financed universities cannot apply.
•  Students admitted to tuition fee-paying institutions of higher education cannot apply.
Age Limits for Applicants
•  30 years for scholarships for semester studies
•  40 years for scholarships for postgraduate studies
•  35 years for scholarship for PhD scholarships
•  45 years for postdoctoral scholarships
•  There are no age limits for the following types of scholarships: research stay and summer courses.

Victoria Excellence Scholarships for School Leavers at Victoria University of Wellington

- Attention will be given to which subjects the student has taken, and achievement in those subjects will need to have some relevance to the programme of study they intend to take at Victoria University.
- International fee-paying students who have completed at least one full year at a New Zealand secondary school are eligible to apply.
Scholarship Open for International Students: This Scholarship open for New Zealand students.
Scholarship Description: The purpose of the scholarship is to recruit high-achieving undergraduate students to Victoria University of Wellington and to support them in their studies. The majority of these scholarships will be awarded at $5,000 with a small number being awarded at $10,000, which will be competitively awarded on academic merit.
Number of awards offered: The number varies each year. 440 were awarded for study in 2012.
Duration of award(s): Most will be for one year. A number of Victoria Excellence Scholarships will extended to students in their second and third years, on the basis of academic achievement in the previous year of study.
What does it cover?  The majority of these scholarships will be awarded at $5,000 with a small number being awarded at $10,000.
Notification: Applicants will be notified within 10 working days after their application has been received if they have been awarded a $5,000 scholarship.

USA : S.N Bose Scholars Student Exchange Program for Indian Students in USA

The Science & Engineering Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST) of Govt. of India,  the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) announces exchange programme between premier institutions in India and the United States. This program is to provide an opportunity to Indian students to experience world-class research facilities in leading U.S. institutions. Students currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters’ degree at a recognized institution of higher education and learning in India can apply for the scholarship.

The program is named in honor of Satyendra Nath Bose (1894 – 1974), a visionary Indian physicist best known for his work on quantum mechanics in the early 1920s. The class of particles that obey Bose-Einstein statistics, Bosons, was named after him.

UK : Grand Prix LVMH Scholarships at University of the Arts

Grand Prix LVMH Scholarships are offered at University of the Arts London  for UK/EU and International Students. The scholarships offered for students progressing to the final year of the BA (Hons) Fashion course at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design. One Scholarship is offered to Home/EU student and one to the International student. These fashion scholarships scholarships are valued one at £12,000 for the Home/EU student and one at £25,000 for the International student.

USA : American University Global Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is targeted to high-achieving international students who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in the US and who are dedicated to positive civic and social change. It is intended for students who will be to returning home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in his/her home country.

One (1) scholarship will be awarded to a first-year (freshman)  international student
Target group:
The scholarships are targeted to international secondary school students from any country. U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents or dual citizens of the U.S. and another country, are not eligible to apply.
Preference will be given to international students who have overcome various obstacles and challenges as well as those from diverse and under-represented global and socio-economic backgrounds.
Scholarship value/inclusions:
The scholarship provides full tuition, fees, room and board. It is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, based on continued satisfactory academic performance.
Eligibility:
To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must be secondary school students (not university students) applying as first-year (freshman) students at American University for the August 2013 semester.  Candidates must be from any another country other than the US and must need a visa to study in the United States (preference will be for those who need an F-1 or J-1 student visa).
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicants should have:
•  A minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent (or in the top 10 percent of graduating class) for 9th-12th grades
•  A demonstrated commitment to service and advancing the needs of people in their home country
•  Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with a minimum 90 TOEFL iBT (with no subscore lower than 20) or 6.5 IELTS (with no subscore lower than 6.0)
•  Demonstrated leadership, volunteerism and community service

This scholarship is highly competitive. You must have a minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent and minimum 90 TOEFL or 6.5 IELTS English proficiency score in order to qualify for this scholarship. Only apply if you meet these criteria.

Taiwan : International Higher Education Scholarship Program

Brief description:
TaiwanICDF’s International Higher Education Scholarship Program aims to assist partner developing countries to achieve sustainable development through education. The TaiwanICDF provides scholarships for higher education and has developed undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. programs in cooperation with renowned partner universities in Taiwan.

The TaiwanICDF has established the Taiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA) with its partner universities, setting up an operational platform under this TICA framework to manage and improve the scholarship program. Eligibility:
•  Be a citizen of List of Countries Eligible for TaiwanICDF Scholarship, and satisfy any specific criteria established by his or her country and/or government of citizenship.
•  Neither be a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan) nor an overseas compatriot student.
•  Satisfy the admission requirements of the partner university to which he or she has applied to study under a TaiwanICDF scholarship.
•  Be able to satisfy all requirements for a Resident Visa (Code: FS) set by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) set by the Ministry of the Interior, of the ROC (Taiwan) government (this means that the TaiwanICDF has the right to revoke a scholarship offered if an applicant cannot satisfy the visa requirements).
•  Upon accepting a TaiwanICDF scholarship, not hold any other ROC(Taiwan) government-sponsored scholarship (such as the TaiwanScholarship) in the same academic year in which the TaiwanICDF scholarship would be due to commence.
•  Not be applying for a further TaiwanICDF scholarship in unbroken succession — applicants who have already held a TaiwanICDF scholarship must have returned to their home country for more than one year before re-applying (note: to apply for a 2013 scholarship, an applicant must have graduated and returned to his or her home country before July 31, 2012).
•  Have never had any scholarship revoked by any ROC (Taiwan)government agency or related institution, nor been expelled from any Taiwanese university.

Netherlands : One World Citizen Talent Scholarship for International Students

Brief description:
The Hague University offers scholarships to outstanding international students who would like to start their bachelor programme during the academic year 2013-2014.

any developing country : WMF Scholarships for Developing Country Students

Brief description:
The Wells Mountain Foundation, a public charitable foundation based in Bristol, Vermont, USA, funds scholarships for individuals in developing nations or other situations of extreme poverty.

All fields of study but fields such as  health care, social work, education, social justice, as well as, professions that help the economy and progress of the country such as computers, engineering, agriculture and business are favored.

28 scholars were selected in 2011.

Citizens of developing countries
Scholarship value/inclusions:
Scholarships range from  $300.US to a rare high of $3000.US to cover part of tuition and fees, books and materials, room rent and meals.
They do not fund the following:
- education at a college, polytechnic or university in the United States, UK, Australia, or Europe  with some exceptions
- Masters or Doctorate degrees. A medical degree, however, is acceptable.
- laptop computers, conferences or trips
- debts or past due tuition bills
Eligibility:
WMF’s ideal candidate is a student, male or female, from a country in the developing world, who:
- successfully completed a secondary education, with good  to excellent grades
- will be studying in their country or another country in the developing world
- plans to live and work in their own country after they graduate
- has volunteered prior to applying for this scholarship and/or is willing to volunteer while  receiving the WMF scholarship
- may have some other funds available for their education, but will not be able to go to school without a scholarship
- submits a complete, legible 2012 application in English

Netherlands : Utrecht Excellence Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship offers a number of outstanding prospective students the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a selected number of fields at Utrecht University.

Important Note: Students should be aware that the grant is NOT a full scholarship. It is necessary to find additional funding to be able to finance study and stay completely. As one of the requirements for being granted a residence permit in the Netherlands, students from abroad must prove to the IND (immigration and naturalisation office) that they have sufficient financial means.
Eligibility:
The applicant must meet the eligibility criteria in order to be considered for this scholarship. The applicant should:
•  Not have the Dutch nationality;
•  Hold a non-Dutch secondary school diploma;
• Have been admitted to an International Master’s programme within one of the Graduate Schools mentioned above, the Bachelor’s programme in Economics and Business Economics or to University College Utrecht;
•  Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree (for a Master’s programme) or secondary school diploma (for a Bachelor’s programme), or an equivalent thereof;

Scholarship Criteria:
Eligible candidates are selected for a scholarship on the basis of the following criteria:
•  Their academic excellence and promise in the proposed field of study;
•  The academic quality and results of the preceding education, as evidenced, for example, by grades, test scores, publications, letters of recommendation;
•  The quality and relevance of the motivation letter (academic content, intercultural and communication skills, personal motivation);
•  The quality and feasibility of the financial plan in the application;
•  The quality of the application itself (completeness, accuracy, consistency).

It is not possible to apply for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship. You must have been admitted to selected International Master’s or Bachelor’s programmes (see above) to be considered for the scholarship. From the list of admitted students, the Selection Committee of the programme will select eligible candidates on the basis of the selection criteria mentioned above.
Prospective Bachelor’s students in Economics and Business Economics who wish to be considered for the scholarship should apply for admission before 1 April. Prospective Master’s students who wish to be considered for the scholarship should apply for admission before 1 December.

Chinese Government Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
The Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme awards scholarships in China for international students. It is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars.

2. Education background and age limit:

•  Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
•  Applicants for Chinese training program must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35, Chinese language is the only subject available.

Ireland Government Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
Government of Ireland International Scholarships will be awarded to  high calibre higher education students from non-EEA countries to study in Ireland for a period of one year.
The scholarship may be for the final year of an undergraduate programme, a one year taught masters programme or for one year of a research programme (research masters or PhD programme).

Scholarships will only be approved for programmes that lead to a higher education award that is included in the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at Levels 6 to  10, which is made by selected awarding bodies.
Number of Scholarships:
It is expected that a total of 22 scholarships will be funded from the HEA in the academic year 2013/2014.
Target group:
The scholarship is open to any non -EU/EEA students however the 2013/2014 scheme will prioritise applications targeted at China, India and Brazil.
Scholarship value/inclusions:
The HEA will award a scholarship fund to the student (through the HEI that the student is attending) amounting to €10,000 for one study year.  This fund is directed at covering student costs and living expenses.
The HEI will be required to give a FULL fee waiver to the student for the scholarship year (i.e. tuition fee and registration charge are waived).  This is the  minimum  matching funding  requirement that institutions will be required to make to the scholarship programme.

You must meet the eligibility criteria set forth by the higher education institution you are applying to.

The Higher Education Institution (HEI) will nominate scholars to the Higher Education Authority (HEA) for approval. Therefore, you must apply directly to the Higher Education Institution to be considered for the scholarship.  The closing date for receipt of proposals to HEA is  on  21 December 2012. Deadline for applications to HEIs should be earlier.
