The program, which is taught in English and is suitable for students with diverse academic backgrounds, covers the theory and practice of a wide spectrum of fields in Computer Science and Information Technology, and allows students to pursue a minor in Statistics.

Three study plans, which include specific groups of related elective courses, are suggested: (1) Information Sciences and Intelligent Systems, (2) Software Dependability and IT Security, and (3) Information Systems and Statistical Analysis.

The requirements to apply are the following: Candidates must hold a university degree, equivalent to a tree-year (or four-year) Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related subjects (Computer/Electroni c Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, etc.); Candidates must be proficient in English (a B1 certificate is required, or a certificate attesting that the medium of instruction of the bachelor was English).

Candidates can ask for an on-line pre-evaluation of their qualification and school career (www.unive.it/ evaluation) before starting the official enrolment procedure.
Only students who complete successfully the on-line pre-evaluation procedure by May 31st, 2013 can be awarded with the university international scholarships. Other regional scholarships are available, assigned on the basis of the family income.

Italy : Lifelong Learning Programme Erasmus Studio

he SSI offers study grants for the Erasmus mobility project. The number of months available for the SIS are 68.
A resumé of the new Call is available in the box of Download.
The general rules, included here in order to provide as much information as possible, do not replace the (possibly more up to date) provisions of the University Directive. Please consult the LLP-Erasmus SIS Regulations.

Applications must be submitted by February 4th 2013 h. 12.00.

Useful tips to submit your Application-on-Line

Read the following information carefully.The online application form can be filled in and saved bit by bit until the candidate decides that it is complete and then submits it.Once it has been submitted, the online application cannot be changed, added to or cancelled.
Candidates must print off the receipt issued automatically when their application is received, sign it and hand it in/ send it via fax or e-mail/send it in an envelope posted to/to the Erasmus office at the School of International Studies before the deadline expires.
If candidates have any difficulties or doubts while filling in the online form, they are asked to save the form as it stands and contact the Erasmus office at their Faculty or School and not to submit their application until they have resolved their difficulty.

  • read the Announcement and Attachment 1 of the Announcement and assess the destinations that interest you (noting the specific details about each place – language area, length of time for which scholarships are given, subject areas, etc);
  • get all the documents you need for your application ready and scan them onto your computer so that they are easily accessible while you are filling in the form on-line;
  • go on to the websites of the foreign universities you are considering and take note of their academic calendars and courses.  Finding the right courses is vital for your choice and for completing the section of the application form dealing with the educational reasons for your choice;
  • in the section dealing with the reasons for your choice you must state which of the courses offered at each of your chosen foreign universities you would like to attend.  It is possible that university websites will still only have information up about 2012/2013 courses, but this will give you a good idea of the courses available, particularly as the courses offered by universities usually vary very little from year to year;
  • an evaluation of candidates’ reasons for choosing particular universities and courses is usually one of the criteria used when assessing the applications (with the marks counting towards the ranking of candidates) and so it is vital that this section be filled out with great care in order to make the most of this one opportunity to make your application;
  • take note of the language area and code of the relevant partner universities shown in Attachment 1.  These are the two key references which will help you to identify the destinations you are choosing while you fill out the application form;
  • consult the Erasmus office at your School  and the appropriate Destination Coordinator about the universities most suitable for your study program (they can also advise you on which courses to attend, which will determine when you go abroad);
  • fill out the online form in good time and submit it a few days before the deadline expires.

Application
What is necessary to  submit along with the Application:

students on the Master’s course
  • their letter of motivation (500-1000 words, in English language) explaining why they wish to participate in the LLP/Erasmus programme and study or make research project at a partner university;
  • the required language certificate, if already in the candidate’s possession;
  • a research project, signed by the supervisor, and a declaration by the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator at the host institution certifying the willingness to supervise the student during their period of study abroad.

doctoral students
  • the required language certificate, if already in the candidate’s possession;
  • a specific research project, signed by the Coordinator of the Doctoral School;a declaration certifying the willingness of a faculty member at the host institution to supervise the doctoral student during their period of study abroad.
Further details can be found at LLP/Erasmus Studio a.a. 2013/14- Selection Announcement.

Selection criteria
After the closing date for applications, the SIS Erasmus Commission draws up a provisional ranked list of the candidates, according to language area.  The following criteria are used (available points given in brackets):
Master’s students
  1. points awarded for knowledge of languages (0-25);
  2. the weighted average of marks for university exams passed at the date of application (maximum 50);
  3. the letter of motivation (the consistency of the student’s study plan with their degree course) (0-25).

Doctoral students
  1. points awarded for knowledge of languages (0-35);
  2. the relevance of the student’s proposed study period abroad to their doctoral research (maximum 65).
The provisional ranked list is published on the School of International Studies website. Candidates have 10 working days from the publication of the list in which to deliver (in person) their Acceptance form or Rejection form to the Erasmus office at the SIS.
Failure to hand in an acceptance form will be understood as an implicit rejection of the offered scholarship.
Procedures to be followed before departure
It is the student’s responsibility to:
  • enrol at the host university (using the appropriate Application Form) in accordance with the modalities and timeframe of that institution,
  • when necessary, fill out and send off the Accommodation Form in order to book accommodation.  Availability of accommodation and the procedures to be followed to acquire it vary from country to country: it is the student’s responsibility to contact their host university for further information;
  • send the host university, if they so require, an up to date list of the exams taken at Trento University.  Students can print off their own examination record directly, using the Sistema Didattica Servizi Online (Esse3);
  • agree a detailed study programme in collaboration with the LLP/Erasmus Destination Coordinator and the relevant teaching staff at Trento, using the appropriate Learning Agreement, available on the website, and agree upon any eventual additional requirements to be awarded the equivalent UNITN credits upon return.
The Learning Agreement is the study programme which is agreed, in written form, between the host university, the student’s home university (represented by the LLP/Erasmus Destination Coordinator and the SIS LLP/Erasmus Coordinator) and the student.
